Why is a PET-CT scan recommended?
PET-CT scans are advised for:

How does a PET-CT scan work?
A small amount of radioactive tracer (usually FDG) is injected into a vein. This tracer highlights areas with increased metabolic activity. The PET scan detects this activity, while the CT scan provides detailed anatomical images.
How long does a PET-CT scan take?
The entire process usually takes 2 to 3 hours, including tracer injection, resting time, and scanning. The actual scan takes about 20–30 minutes.
Is fasting required before PET-CT scan?
Yes. The patient is asked to fast for 4–6 hours before the scan. Plain water is allowed. Avoid sugar, tea, coffee, and chewing gum.
What happens after PET CT Scan?
After your PET scan, a very small amount of the radiotracer will remain in your body. So, be sure to drink plenty of water to help flush it out of your system.
