Questions Patients Ask
How a CT Scan is done (Step-by-step)?
1. Preparation – You may be asked to change into a gown and remove any metal objects like jewelry or belts.
2. Positioning – You will lie on a motorized table that slides into the CT scanner, which looks like a large doughnut-shaped machine.
3. During the Scan – The scanner rotates around you, capturing multiple X-ray images from different angles. You’ll need to lie still — and at times, for clear images.
4. Contrast (if required) – For some scans, a contrast dye is used to highlight specific organs or blood vessels. This dye may be given orally or through an IV injection.
5. After the Scan– The test usually takes 5–15 minutes. You can resume normal activities immediately unless told otherwise.
6. Report – The captured images are analyzed by a radiologist, and the report is shared with the patient.
Is a CT Scan Risky?
A CT scan is generally very safe when performed with proper precautions. It uses low doses of X-rays to create detailed images, and the benefits of accurate diagnosis almost always outweigh any minimal risk.
When done at a certified centre like Orbit Imaging & Pathlab with NABL/NABH accreditation, CT scans are safe, quick, and highly reliable.
Are your labs NABL & NABH accredited?

What is a contrast CT Scan?
It’s a CT done with a special dye to highlight organs or blood vessels.
Are there any side effects of CT Scan?
Side effects are rare; mild reactions may occur if contrast is used.
Can I eat or drive after a CT Scan?
Yes, you can eat, drink, and resume normal activities after your scan.
Is a doctor’s prescription required for a CT Scan?
